Lead Hardware Researcher - Commercial Quantum Computing

1. Operate, maintain, and upgrade commercial quantum computers with other peer scientists and engineers.
2. Collaborate with an international team of scientist and engineers in the development, experiment, and testing of new quantum computing hardware and algorithms
3. Perform and guide efforts in conceptualizing, developing, designing, assembling, and validating advanced quantum computers and their component systems
4. Partner with the R&D manager to lead operation to meet programmatic performance, schedule, cost, and quality commitments

Requirements:

1. Ph.D in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field preferred
2. 5 or more years of post-graduate experience (MS or PhD inclusive) developing atomic/molecular/optical (AMO) /or QC systems
3. Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate technical topics in both English and Japanese
4. Ability to travel abroad for training and other business requirement

Preferred Skills:

1. Proven expertise in AMO physics and/or Quantum Computing
2. Experience in complex task management (cost, schedule, risk/opportunity, etc)
3. A track record of high-technology (engineering, or physical science) development
4. Experience with design or operation of a device for quantum information processing
5. Experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or neutral atoms
6. Experience with cryogenics and ultra-high vacuum systems
7. Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments
8. Working knowledge of Python for system control, system testing, and data analysis
9. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research.
