Japanese - English Translator (Contract)

1. Internal and external English translation projects mainly related to accounting, accounting, taxation, and human resources fields
2. Supporting, planning, promoting, managing, and reforming English translation projects
3. Produce accurate, idiomatic translations across a range of familiar fields and contexts while meeting reasonable targets
4. Communicate with colleagues productivity and experts, as well as perform research using publicly available information and other resources, to produce accurate translations even in new or unfamiliar disciplines
5. Translate tax, consulting and accounting-related proposals, presentations, memos, position papers and other deliverables
6. Translate internal communications (eg announcements, policies, information session materials, training materials)
7. Translate external communications (eg articles , marketing materials, media interviews, etc.)

1. Over one and a half years of English translation experience as an in-house translator at a translation company or business company (*as a member of a translation team, in an environment where the translations you have created are reviewed by other translators), or Equivalent experience
2. Communication skills with clients and project members
3. Logical thinking and analytical skills
4. Japanese: business level
5. English: business level (experience in business communication using English)
6. Basic PC skills , Business etiquette (experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
7. Those who can communicate smoothly with multiple parties inside and outside the company
8. Those who are good at hypothesis building and abstract thinking skills 
9. Educated native or near-native speaker of English with strong writing skills
10. ACTFL-defined Superior or Distinguished proficiency in Japanese
11. Minimum of 1.5 years of supervised experience as a full-time in-house translator or the equivalent
12. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
13. Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality

[Conditions not required, but desirable]

1. Consulting, Big4, BigLaw backgrounds welcome
2. Experience using CAT such as Trados, memoQ
3. Business knowledge of accounting, finance, taxation, human resources is a plus
4. English: TOEIC level of 900 or higher; Experience studying abroad or working abroad is a plus
5. Logical thinking and analytical skills 
6. Experience in translation in a wide range of fields
7. Able to respond flexibly with professionalism 
8. Completion of advanced level formal training in translation, or NAATI or ATA certification
9. Translation project management experience
10. Experience with SDL Trados or other CAT tools
11. Editing experience
12. Experience working at a tax, accounting, financial, consulting or legal firm (esp. Big Four/MBB/ BigLaw)
13. Interpreting experience
14. Curious, quick and lifelong learner
15. Fluency in Japanese business culture
16. JLPT N1 or equivalent certification
