Japan Vaccine Communications Lead

This individual will oversee all aspects of our Vaccine Business Unit communications in Japan, working closely with other members of Global Vaccine Communications, Japan Vaccine Business Unit, Global Corporate Affairs and Japan Pharma Business Unit Communications. Importantly, this person will be responsible for all communications related to our COVID-19 vaccine programs in Japan while aligning with Japan Pharma Communications on any marketed product communications. Must be based in Japan.

1. Bachelors degree – BS/BA in journalism, writing, communications or global health preferred
2. Fluent speaker and writer in both Japanese and English  
3. Minimum 10 years progressive experience in corporate communications, preferably with an emphasis on public relations, global health and/or product communications
4. Prior experience in biopharmaceutical space is highly preferable, and global health and/or vaccine experience is ideal
5. Prior experience working in a global environment
6. Keen understanding of Japan media, with preference for established relationships with key media in Japan
7. Strategic planner and results-oriented
8. Relationship builder who can negotiate and form consensus among various parties
9. Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
10. Strong organizational skills accompanied by the ability to multi-task and problem-solve
11. Strong execution, while considering all perspectives including legal and regulatory
12. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
13. Team player and self-starter with a positive attitude
14. A pragmatic and flexible approach to personal time management, considering the global/international nature of the role
15. Able to manage and collaborate with communications agency team
16. Excellent PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel capabilities
17. Frequent travel between Tokyo and Osaka
18. Fluent Japanese skill and business level English skill required
